Work Needed:  Long-Term Disaster recovery from April 2011 tornadoes and storms.  Projects include home repair, rebuilding, and new home construction.  Volunteers, who choose, may also serve in the Habitat Re-Store in Birmingham including stocking, pricing and setting up displays.  Habitat for Humanity is supervising all construction work on behalf of Central Alabama Long-Term Recovery Committee.

Time:  Beginning January 2012.  [Dates during March 2012 may not be available]
           Work:  Tuesday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Accommodations:  Housing provided in local United Church of Christ congregations for groups under 20.  Accommodation is also available for larger groups.  UCC Registrar will make arrangements for your group upon receiving your on-line registration.  Bathrooms, showers, and access to kitchen facilities and pots and pans are available.

Cost:  $50 per person per week to the host church providing accommodations to help offset costs of utilities and maintenance.  Costs for building materials and tools, and construction supervision provided through our Birmingham local partners, Habitat for Humanity and the Central Alabama Long-Term Recovery Committee.  Your donations to One Great Hour of Sharing® and the UCC Spring Storms Appeal help make possible the local work of the Long-Term Recovery Committee.

Minimum Age:  14 years.  Volunteers under age 18 have separate waiver forms requiring parent/guardian signature.
