U2 singer Bono (at podium) was introduced by the Rev. Nancy Taylor (c.), UCC Massachusetts Conference Minister, on July 27, at a press conference in Boston during the Democratic National Convention. Both are supporting "One Campaign," a grassroots effort to place greater public attention on issues of poverty and HIV/AIDS before the November election. "We are trying to make a lot of noise, in order to focus this nation's political agenda and political attention on issues of poverty," Taylor said. "I cannot think of anything more important for our own souls or the soul of the nation. I cannot think of a better reason to mix religion and politics than in this high and holy work of justice."
