The Pilgrim Press no longer issues free permission to use resources. Instead we charge a $25 processing fee in order to offset the cost of this service.
All hymnals provide copyright information in the back. The New Century Hymnal, for example, lists (beginning on page 888) who owns the music, hymn text, and any adaptations. Congregations can use a hymn if The Pilgrim Press, the United Church of Christ, or United Church Press owns it. Works are in the public domain and can be used for free if they were created in 1929 or earlier. Hymns without entry indicate that they were in the public domain at the time the hymnal was printed.
