This summer the UCC will join "The Protestant Hour," the 57-year-old award-winning ecumenical radio program, as it changes its name to "Day 1" and launches a new television ministry.

"I have vivid childhood memories of The Protestant Hour and its impact on our household," says the Rev. Robert Chase, who directs the UCC's Proclamation, Identity and Communication Ministry. "The opportunity to impact an entirely new generation of seekers is simply irresistible."

The half-hour radio program is heard weekly across North America on about 150 radio stations, on the American Forces Radio Network broadcast to servicemen and women in 175 countries around the world, and online via streaming audio (at and ).

The UCC will participate in the radio and television programs on a transitional basis in 2002, with a speaker featured on July 7 and later this fall, then once a month in early 2003. The new television version of the program, produced in association with Faith & Values Media, also begins airing Sunday, July 7, on the Hallmark Channel during the 10 a.m. (ET) hour.
