1. Information and Communication

Overview:  At the Information Desk, provide information, supplied by Positively Cleveland, to delegates and guests on restaurants, attractions, drug stores, hospitals, the meeting facility, and the General Synod agenda and program. 
Qualifications: Happy attitude and welcoming smile!

2. Registration

Overview: Assist with the check-in process at the General Synod Registration Desk, located inside the Cleveland Convention Center, by greeting and directing delegates and guests.
Qualifications: Some lifting and standing. Great communication skills and a happy attitude!

3. Exhibit Hall Support

Overview: Provide support to the Exhibit Hall Coordinator by directing folks to exhibits, answering general questions, and helping to clear the hall of people at worship time and closing time.
Qualifications: On your feet, although there are opportunities to sit. Happy and accommodating attitude.

4. Floor Stewards

Overview:  Make sure delegates have information to do their jobs.  Floor Stewards are needed at each plenary session in which General Synod business will be conducted.
Qualifications: On your feet during each plenary session.

5. Badge and Credential Checkers

Overview: Verify that those entering the Exhibit Hall and Plenary Hall are properly registered delegates or guests.
Qualifications:  On your feet for 3-4 hour intervals. Happy attitude!

6. Recorder for Committee Business
 
Overview: Using a computer and flash drive provided by the Committee Process Team, maintain edits and changes to the language of the business that has been assigned to the committee.

7. Delegate and Guest Welcome

Overview: Provide an Extravagant Welcome to guests and delegates to General Synod in the convention center setting. Also recruit cookie bakers, transport and store cookies in the convention center and distribute cookies during the event.
Qualifications: On your feet a great deal. Need to be able to carry cookie plates and keep cookie stations stocked throughout the convention center. A happy attitude!

8. Welcome and Reception at Local Hotels

Overview: Provide an Extravagant Welcome and information at each of the Synod hotels during check-in.
Qualifications: Welcoming and happy attitude!

9. Children’s Program and Childcare

Overview: Provide childcare and children’s programming during plenaries, worship services, workshops, committee meetings and business meetings for infants, K-6, and 7th and 8th grades at General Synod. Volunteers will also be accompanying older children on afternoon field trips to local attractions.
Qualifications: All volunteers working in child care must be fingerprinted and have a background check. This process will be facilitated by the co-chairs of the committee. The costs of the background checks will be covered by the Conference.

10. Local Ground Transportation for General Synod VIPs

Overview:  Provide airport transportation to and from General Synod for VIPs.
Volunteer drivers must have insured cars and valid drivers license. Volunteers are asked to commit for an entire day to be available as needed. You will not be driving all day.
Qualifications: Happy attitude, flexible and has good driving and directional skills.

11. Ushers for Worship Services

Overview: Collect offering and serve communion in the General Synod worship services. Forty to sixty volunteers are needed for each worship service where there is communion or offering.
Qualifications: Welcoming and happy attitude!

12. Volunteer Recruitment and Scheduling

Overview:  Help recruit volunteers and assist in coordination of volunteers during the week of General Synod. Sit at Volunteer Sign-In Desk at the Convention Center to check in volunteers and help fill vacancies when needed.
Qualifications: Flexible, organized and able to manage multiple demands.

13. Volunteer Services

Overview: To provide support and resources to volunteers before and during General Synod. Work primarily in the Volunteer Room helping with any duty that might arise.
Qualifications: Flexible, creative, happy and helpful attitude!

14. General Synod Staff Office Help

Overview: Assist the General Synod Cleveland Staff with general office work and answering questions from synod attendees while sitting in the General Synod Office Room located at the Convention Center.
Qualifications: Flexible. Happy attitude.
