Global partners share stories, ideas, and dreams visiting General Synod July 2, 2013
UCC delegates and visitors to General Synod may fly thousands of miles, and they may find themselves in a setting where the business occurs in a language they do not understand. They remain, however, in their own country and in their own church, in contrast to representatives from overseas partners. They travel even farther to a more foreign place, bearing witness to the power of shared ministry over the decades and over the seas.
General Synod resolution advocates for tax fairness July 2, 2013
The United Church of Christ has frequently called for a system of taxation that is fair and just. General Synod 29, meeting this week in Long Beach, Calif., added its voice by calling for a tax system that addresses current flaws in order to make taxation “fair, adequate and equitable.”
UCC resolution affirms: affordable housing is an act of hospitality July 2, 2013
Calling the “creation and sustaining of quality affordable housing an act of hospitality,” the General Synod of the United Church of Christ today (Tuesday) called upon its congregations and national setting to advocate for funding of federal housing programs, specifically HUD Section 202 and Section 811.
UCC Synod calls for an end to mountaintop removal July 2, 2013
More than 800 delegates to General Synod 2013 completed their last item of business Tuesday afternoon and approved the resolution calling for an end to "Mountaintop Removal Coal Mining in Appalachia."
