Bestselling Pilgrim Press author and nationally recognized diversity consultant, Deborah Plummer, has teamed with filmmaker Bob Stefanov to participate in a Pepsi Refresh "Good Ideas" project. The project is titled "Jumpstart a National Conversation on Race" and seeks to extended the reach of the UCC's Sacred Conversation on Race beyond the church.

"The DVD (Race: And Old Topic for our New World) is designed to provoke conversations between friends and neighbors and within businesses and places of worship," the project site explains, and includes "group exercises that can be re-created by users at their own events."

Pepsi's online contest, aimed at fostering socially responsible initiatives, ends June 30. To date, Plummer and Stefanov's proposal ranks 192 among the more than 1,150 submitted ideas. The top 10 proposals will receive $50,000 to apply toward project expenses.

Plummer's most recent book, Racing Across the Lines: Changing Race Relations through Friendships, is available from UCC Resources.
