The United Church of Christ is supporting emergency response operations in Darfur, Sudan as a founding member of Action by Churches Together, Intl. Since the humanitarian crisis began in 2004, 2.5 million persons have been displaced while over 200,000 people have died. Even though the United Church of Christ has provided more than $280,000 for food, shelter, water, sanitation and other humanitarian assistance, the need is still great.
In the coming year, we have made a pledge to raise an additional $50,000 to support continued humanitarian assistance as well as peace building.
