Mass. Conference selects interim minister to succeed Jim Antal

The Massachusetts Conference Board of Directors announced on Monday, Sept. 18, that the Rev. Don Remick will serve as the Transitional Interim Minister and President upon the Rev. Jim Antal's retirement July 1, 2018.

The board also voted to create an Associate Conference Minster Search Committee to seek a half-time ACM to minister "to the ministries of Jesus Christ in and through the churches of the Southeast Area" where Remick focuses part of his full-time ministry.

Remick will be coming into this position following the vote at the June Annual Meeting regarding the formation of a new Conference in unity with the Connecticut and Rhode Island conferences.

"I'm thrilled by this decision of the Board," Antal said. "Anyone who has worked with Don knows that in addition to bringing familiarity and continuity to the lead position in the Conference, Don brings innovation and vision, driven by his attentive listening to the ever-new call of our Still Speaking God."

Remick said of his new role in part: "I am grateful for the faithfulness that exists in the hearts of our clergy and congregations across our Conference. I look forward to ministering to the ministries of Jesus Christ together."
