The Rev. Dwight D. Andrews, senior pastor at First Congregational UCC in Atlanta, will be among six guests honored Feb. 28 at the
Day1 annual benefit for the Alliance for Christian Media and the Day1 ministry at
the Piedmont Driving Club in Atlanta.
The event will recognize Atlanta-area leaders well known for
their commitment to the good of the community but who may not have been recognized
for their deep commitment to their church and the religious community.
Andrews, an associate professor of music at Emory University
in Atlanta, has lectured extensively throughout the United States. A native of
Detroit, he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in music from the
University of Michigan. Andrews earned a master's of divinity from Yale in 1977
and was ordained by the UCC in 1978.
He has served as associate pastor of Christ's Church at Yale
University's Battell Chapel for ministry to the minority communities. For more
than a decade, he served as minister at the Black Church at Yale and pastored
several generations of Yale students and faculty as well as members of the
greater New Haven community.
In addition to Andrews, the list of honorees for the Day1
annual benefit include:
The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship – The Rev. Dr. William L.
Self, Senior Pastor, Johns Creek Baptist Church

Day1 – a national ecumenical radio program formerly known as
the Protestant Hour – is broadcast weekly and is produced by the Alliance.
Carried nationally by more than 215 stations, it is regularly broadcast on the
American Forces Radio Network and is accessible online at <Day1.org>.
Day1 began in 1945 when leaders of several major
denominations and church-related colleges and seminaries came together with the
goal of spreading the good news of God's love and justice through radio. Every
week since, Day1 has presented compelling sermons from the most accomplished
preachers from across America.
