Nelson will manage the delivery of services to UCCIBs member churches, as well as work with key business partners in the design of the master insurance program, according to a UCCIB news release. David brings a wealth of history and experience to our organizations, UCCIB President Cathy Green told board members at an early January meeting in Indianapolis. He was the senior account manager on the Willis brokerage team for the UCCIB from1999 to 2005. During that time, he worked with [UCCIB] staff and board to obtain program coverages and to ensure that our churches were serviced appropriately.
While at the Willis firm, Nelson was responsible for managing major clients, including the UCCIB.
David brings to the UCCIB a strong background in the insurance industry and experience in effectively servicing clients, said Green.
A graduate of the University of Michigan, he has also taken graduate business courses at Cleveland State University. He is a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter and is certified as an Associate in Risk Management.
Nelson and his wife, Joan, are parents of two grown children and live in Westlake, Ohio, where David is active in community theater groups.
The UCC Insurance Board, established in 1981 in California, has been located in Maryland for the past 14 years, but is in the process of relocating to Cleveland.
The UCCIB, a not-for-profit corporation, administers property and liability insurance programs for churches and related entities of the UCC and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
