The United Church of Christ General Minister and President the Rev. Geoffrey A. Black has announced a change in the administrative leadership of the mainline Protestant denomination headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, naming Lee Foley to replace W. Mark Clark.

"Mark Clark, chief administrative officer in the national setting, has resigned," Black announced to staff on Sept. 25. "The Collegium is aware of this change and they offer their prayers, support and blessings for a smooth transition. We all certainly wish Mark the very best as he discerns his future callings. As we move forward together, I have asked Mr. Lee Foley to serve as acting chief administrative officer for the remainder of the year.

Foley, who begins his role as CAO today said he is "looking forward to working with and assisting the officers of the church in this administrative role, and I am very honored to be asked serve in this capacity."

As acting CAO, Foley will be responsible for overseeing General Synod, as well as the meeting services, events and hospitality, human resources, information technology and building services ministries.  He also will continue his work in governing body relations. Publishing, Identity and Communications and the Office of Philanthropy and Stewardship will now report directly to the general minister and president.

Lee Foley has served the UCC since 2000, his most current role as minister for governing body relations.  He joined the UCC as director of administration in the UCC Proclamation, Identity and Communication Ministry, after a long-time career in television news, most recently as assistant news director at the CBS affiliate, WOIO/WUAB TV in Cleveland.
