The Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr. will deliver the 30th Annual Everett C. Parker Ethics in Telecommunications Lecture Sept. 25 in Washington D.C. The Parker Lecture is held each year by the United Church of Christ’s Office of Communication, Inc. (OC, Inc.) to inspire the media and public interest advocates and honor those individuals making a difference in ethical broadcasting. This year’s event will also celebrate the centennial of Rev. Everett Parker’s birth, as well as his pioneering work as an advocate for the public’s rights in broadcasting. The lecture and breakfast will take place in the new facilities of First Congregational United Church of Christ.

Aimed at increasing awareness in opposition to a budget proposal they see as harmful to low-income families, a group of Catholic nuns ended a nine-state bus tour Monday with a rally and prayer service on Capitol Hill.
