In worship Sunday morning our pastor told the stone soup story, as members of the congregation brought up fresh vegetables. At the end of the story the pastor gave the soup pot and vegetables to our coffee hour hosts and asked if they could "do something with these" before worship concluded. Several members of the congregation took off for the kitchen, intending to help chop vegetables. But pots of pre-cooked soup were already on the stove, ready for the after service coffee hour. Church members served vegetable soup and bread to the rest of the congregation along with the traditional coffee and tea—and lots of folks stayed for a letter writing campaign.
