More than 300 members of Naples United Church of Christ accepted a Mission One challenge to package 111,111 meals for the hungry of Southwest Florida. Each meal includes four servings of a protein enriched macaroni and cheese. The meals are being distributed by local food banks and the public schools. Fifteen members of the United Church of Christ at the Lighthouse—a new church start of the Florida Conference—also participated along with a team from the Holocaust Museum of Southwest Florida and other community groups. NUCC’s youth and young adults staffed the leadership team for this intergenerational event which included people from age 6-91! The goal was 111,111 was exceeded, with 112,380 meals actually packaged. Over 350 volunteers got involved!
Naples UCC in Florida commissioned a special banner to promote Mission: 1. The congregation exceeded its goal of providing more than 111,111 meals during Mission: 1 and now plans to continue its hunger-focused M1 ministry for 11 more months.
