The church supplied fresh produce from its ‘Share Garden’ to the local food pantry during Mission:1. Ground was broken for the garden, a new effort this year, on June 1st with the help of many young people in the church and community. The Church School children cared for and harvested the garden all summer long. All of the harvest was donated weekly to the community’s Ecumenical Food Shelf. The church donated 960 items as part of Mission:1, much of it produced from the garden. The local food shelf has been thrilled to receive this healthy harvest.
P.S. - This work will continue - a local Boy Scout, just recently organized a team of some 54 volunteers to assist in the expanding the Share Garden as it is prepared for next year.
