Over 11 days, the United Church of Christ will offer 11,111 LETTERS TO CONGRESS asking our government to reform U.S. foreign assistance in a way that more effectively benefits hungry and poor people worldwide, helping to provide a major final push for Bread for the World's 2011 "Offering of Letters" campaign.

To easily send your letter to Congress, use the link at the top of this section. Or, if you prefer hand-writing a letter, follow these simple instructions:

1. Write your name and address at the end of your letter AND on the envelope, so your members of Congress know you are one of the people they represent.

2. Ask for specific action, using this sentence or your own words: "Please protect families and children from budget cuts that cost lives, and support continued U.S foreign aid reform."

3. Give reasons why.

a. Letters with personal stories are the most compelling and effective.

b. "My church is already helping by [example from Mission: 1], but I also expect my country to take the lead in combating global hunger."

4. Put each letter in a separate envelope and address it. Send your letter to:

a. Your U.S. senators:

U.S. Senate
Washington, DC 20510

b. Your U.S. representative:
U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515
