Becoming an Economic Justice Church
Below are a few of the congregations in the process of discerning whether they are called to be an Economic Justice Church.
In March, 2015, Lake Edge UCC in Madison, Wisc, began a process of discernment to determine whether are called to be an Economic Justice Church. On May 22, 2016, the congregation voted to become an Economic Justice Church. Read their covenant.
On March 26, 2013, the Church Council of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lake Worth, FL, established a task force and approved a process of to discern whether the congregation is called to be an Economic Justice Church. Follow their journey.
Follow the journey of Faith UCC in Iowa City, IA. Their education and discernment process was shepherded by a small group within the church, Faith Works. The group included six lay members and the pastor of Faith, Rev. Bob Loffer. They meet monthly and sent monthly bulletins to the congregation. On June 1, 2014, Faith UCC adopted an Economic Justice Covenant and became an Economic Justice Church. Follow their journey.
