Let's Go Fly a Kite...at Synod!
The United Church of Christ is coming to Grand Rapids and we want everyone to know!
Let's announce our arrival in big, bold UCC style...say 500 Stillspeaking kites flying high above Grand Rapids for all to see? Sounds good to me!
Held on the expansive park grounds of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum alongside the majestic Grand River near the DeVos Convention Center, the Stillspeaking Kite Extravaganza will emblazon the sky with UCC energy, color and style.
What a way to pray...what a way to play!

How To Join the Extravaganza
- The Stillspeaking Kite Extravaganza will be held during General Synod on Saturday (June 27) at 12:30 pm. The event won't conflict with plenary or workshop times.
- To participate, make a Stillspeaking kite and bring it to Synod. You don't have to build a kite from scratch (though you can if you want!)….You can begin with a store-bought kite and modify/decoate/personalize it as you wish. Kites may be made by churches, groups within churches, individuals, anyone with a stillspeaking spirit (that's you!) Note: We will have kites for sale at Synod, but it'll be way more fun if you make your own!
- Kite creators need not be present at Synod. But you will need to have someone there to fly the kite. If you aren't attending Synod, someone in your church or association is likely going...just ask around.
- And most importantly, no rules!
If it flies, bring it.
If it tries to fly, bring it.
If it prefers solid ground despite your best intentions, bring it!
Anything and everything goes!
