Who? Evangelism Committee, Youth Group, any group or individuals
What? A kind of door prize, and a fun way to get people’s attention. A way to measure the effectiveness of your outreach methods, or create a contest among members for most visitors. Here's how one church did it.
When? For a specific length of time
Where? All over
Why? Tells visitors you are serious about your invitation. Shows you have a sense of humor. "Winner must be present" gets people to the Fellowship Hall.
How? Create colorless, transparent labels and put them on easy-to-distribute paper items (door hangers, postcards, drink coasters – see Advent Tools #10 & 12).
The label should invite people to worship on a specific day and tell them to bring the coaster, etc. with them and put it in the offering plate. In the coffee hour afterward, they and other visitors only will be eligible for a prize.
Be specific. "Bring this [coaster] to worship on __. Put it in the offering plate and you will be entered into a drawing to win [2 tickets to the Cavs basketball game on January 22. See LeBron James do it all against the Miami Heat. Great seats. Winner must be present.]
Think of the joyful mix in the offering plate that day --full of offering envelopes, money, door hangers, drink coasters, postcards! Have fun with the overflow.
More… Add a discreet "distributor’s code" on the label just in case members are competing to see who can bring in the most visitors (see Contest).
