Responses to the God is Still Speaking television commercials

  • Just found the church by me and went to service yesterday. I found a home! Thank you for the enlightened thinking and thank you for the great commercials that brought me into the church.

  • Love the commercial! Last Sunday our church attendance grew by over 25% due to the publicity. One family immediately said "this is the type of church we've been waiting 20 years for" and immediately asked for a pledge card.

  • I wanted to thank you and compliment you on your TV commercial. I don't fit very well into traditional cubbyholes and found the message on the TV extremely powerful; powerful enough to look to see where "your" church might be here where I live. Thank you for having the guts to include rather than exclude. You could give lessons. My young son (20 months) and I (very old) will actually try to get over there next Sunday. Maybe a place we could belong? Thank you very much for restoring some of my faith.
  • At the monthly meeting of our [UCC] Association, a clergy colleague came toward me with arms outstretched, gave me a hug, and said, "Your television commercial is the most powerful 30 seconds on TV today! Thank you!"

  • It was a very powerful and proud moment for me!

  • I have studied the Bible and have tried to practice a Christ consciousness for most of my adult life, but I have always been baffled by how the "traditional" Christian church seems to be all about exclusion and intolerance . . . certainly not what Jesus taught or personified. Thank God there are churches like yours out there, not afraid to come on national TV and show the world what Jesus really meant. And thank you -- you made my day!

  • Thanks for your refreshing TV commercials. . . . Being a gay man in a relationship of fifteen years I am glad to see a religion that is accepting of all people at a time when most religions seem eager to negate gays’ rights through a constitutional amendment.

  • I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your commercial! Although I don't consider myself religious at all, I like to see a church showing a good example of what I believe Christianity is SUPPOSED to be about. I thought it was so beautiful, it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you!

  • I just saw your commercial in Tampa . . . I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your message and your courage . . . I am a spiritual person who identifies with the Christian religion even though I have felt for a long time that it doesn't identify with me . . . I will be finding the nearest UCC in my area and will be there Sunday morning (like the prodigal son returning home) . . . thank you so much for your truly Christian ministry . . . there are so many of us out here who were raised in the church but have felt alienated and thrown out of the "Christian" fellowship and told that Christ doesn't love us...like Christ, you are reaching out to the groups that the mainstream religious leaders shunned. Bless you!

  • [We] have folks asking for an address to send letters of support and money to the UCC to keep the ad campaign going. Goosebumps, chills, tears, laughter, vindication, silent reflection and soft sighs of "yes"--all this and more in response from members and nonmembers alike. Where do we send the checks?
