Your child shows you your capacity to truly love, and that love knows no limits.  From the first moment you learn about your child and see their face, your heart overflows with love.

Sometimes what may not "look" like a good fit is truly the perfect fit!  Your child might not look like you, and their birth story may not be like "everyone else's," but you will always know he or she was meant to be yours and you were meant to be your child's parent.

While everyone's name has a story, your child's name may be different than the one he or she was born with. Both your child's birth name and the name you gave your child have stories to tell.

Probably the most famous adoption story is the story of Moses. Esther was adopted by Mordecai, and Joseph adopted Ephraim and Manasseh. The Bible frequently says we are to care for and adopt orphans. Even our relationship with God is described as adoption: Romans 8:14-17 says that God has adopted us as God’s children.

Whether you adopt internationally or from the city where you live, adopting is an adventure!

People will say dumb things like, "Where is her real mother?" or "How much did you pay for him?"  Learn to find humor in their words and use those times as teaching moments.

Every adoptive family has a "Gotcha Day"—the day your child officially became yours and you became theirs.  You belong to one another and with one another.

Your child is an amazing combination of nature and nurture. Celebrate and affirm the incredible potential in both you and your child.

You accept your child just as they are and your child accepts you just as you are. Like God's grace, acceptance is a free gift with no strings attached.
