Guardians of King's Dream Regroup in Washington
September 3, 2013
Fifty years after the original March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, many have gathered this week to commemorate the civil rights struggle of the 60s. People are also coming together to continue to march for the causes of racial and economic equality as well as LGBT and immigrant rights.
God of all colors, Holy One of every socioeconomic level, we call upon You to guide our nation on Your path forward. Your beloved son Martin was among many who inspired so many more that glorious day 50 years ago. For their dream and their work and for those who have followed in their footsteps since, we give You great thanks.
And You know better than any of us how much more work there is to do. You hear every cry for racial equality and see every stinging economic injustice. Lead us onward, give us courage—so that a 50-year-old dream may become reality, soon and very soon. Amen.
