Ponder: A recent trip to Kumasi, Ghana brought my group to the outstretched arms of beautiful smiling faces welcoming us to their village. We were immediately flooded with questions: "A pencil, please? May I have candy? Did you bring books?" We came with hopes to provide tools to build roads, wells and houses. They met us with the big, innocent and jubilant hearts of children and asked for tools to study and learn. They gave us tools for life.

Pray: Dear God, thank you for the wisdom of children and the ways they teach us how to walk humbly in our aim to honor the humanity of others. Help us to remember the words of Lilla Watson, "If you’ve come here to help me, you’re wasting your time. But if you’ve come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together." Amen.
