Ponder: A frigid Sunday afternoon brought locals to a nearby beach. Some flew kites while others sat on large rocks near the shore. A brave few delved into the brisk waters to catch waves. I watched as the restless tide turned one kayaker upside down and right side up again. The kayaker did not retreat, but regrouped and pushed further out into the open waters as fellow kayakers encouraged their friend along. The waves never subsided, and neither did their determination. Prayer: In the face of unrelenting tides, threatening to toss and overturn us; God give us the strength to turn ourselves right side up again. Be our coast guard in the open waters, offering blessed assurance of a love that will never lose its power. Amen.
