Ponder: Sleeplessness is an epidemic, but that doesn't make it OK when I wake up after long hours calming the kid with nightmares, wait for the slam of the teenager's car door, worry about credit card bills or listen for the wandering of an elder with dementia. How am I going to get through my day?
Pray: God of my long rhythms and my rapid eye movements, bless me today with gentle moments, peaceful views, patient family, careful driving, and the self-kindness of little naps and daydreams, until evening comes and the jazzled hours are folded into sleep. Amen.
