Ponder: Fold the pretty paper into a cone. Staple a strip for a handle. Then fill your basket with beauty, especially flowers. Hang it on a doorknob before dawn, ring the bell and run like a bandit of Spring. Grandma called her lessons "arts and crafts," but I know now she tutored us in giving joy.
Pray: I fold this paper basket, God, and fill it with the beauty closest at hand. Let it bring sneaky joy to my neighbor, co-worker, or brother-sister-stranger-friend for no other reason than Grandma loved May Day.
