Ponder: Have we spent too much time or too much money at stores this season? When we bring our purchases home, we wonder: should we have spent more money on others instead of ourselves? As we hand cash to the clerk or slide our credit card through the machine, will we regret our shopping spree in January?
Pray: Generous God, since Thanksgiving, we may have splurged a little too much on ourselves this year because we “needed” that deeply-discounted item. As we walk around the merrily-decorated malls, help us to focus our resources on giving rather than on gathering. May we find the willpower to pass by store windows without saying “I gotta have this!”
