Ponder: Adoptable cats and Beagle Freedom Project dogs straight from the labs… gerbils and rabbits and snakes and horses and angel fish and cockatoos … chickens and goats and cows and healing raptors. They are around us.

Who’s blood pressure, temper, exercise, well-being is improved when we two-leggeds invite a stray or rescued animal to live with us or when we foster, volunteer to walk or cage-clean, or simply hang up a feeder, put a water bowl outside the entrance to a store?

Pray: God is crate and God is cud (as well as fancier words for shelter and rumination) and we thank you for the animals who run, sniff, bay, yowl appreciation of every inch of creation, who remind us to lie down in a streak of sun, who lend their fur and scales and feathers to the beauty of the earth and the living of our days. Amen.
