Game Changer

Excerpt from Galatians 4:8-20

"Now, however that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and beggarly elemental spirits?"

Reflection by Donna Schaper

Some things are game changers.  The diet that works for a year and not just a month causes us to resist mirrors less.  People go to AA thinking tomorrow might be different than yesterday.  A terrorist attack can change the contours of the city and also the mind.

One person assured me that she learned the meanings of the words "before" and "after" since her mother died.

I'd hate to know what percentage of today I spend hoping for a better tomorrow.  Then I am thin of body and thick of spirit.  I worry less.  I am here, now, more.

This passage tells me that things have already changed, and that I do not know it.

I keep thinking I will know God and goodness "then," while failing to realize that I am already known by God "now."  Knowing that we are already known by God is a game changer.

Prayer

Change the games I play with my Spirit, O God, and let yours enter in.
