Constantly Praying For You
April 14, 2011
Excerpt from Philippians 1:1-11
"I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you."
Reflection by Felix Carrion
Almost every time I speak with my father he lovingly reminds me of his prayers for me and my loved ones. I have no doubt that every day my Dad prays for us, sometimes two and three times a day. I know that in his daily prayers he is remembering us and participating in our care and well-being.
I don't need to know how his prayers are working; I only need to know that they work. And I know they work on my behalf because I know that my Dad puts his whole heart into his prayers. His prayers are as earnest as Paul's prayers for his churches. Without understanding the mystery of prayer, it is a comfort, a source of peace and a joy for me to know of Dad's pure prayers.
There is power in prayer as there is power in knowing that someone is praying for you. This person who loves you like this is constantly praying for you and holding you in their heart. What a blessing it is to be watched over like this every day.
Prayer
O God, today we pause to give you thanks for those who are constantly praying for us. Give us the presence of mind to pray for them and let them know how grateful we are for their daily prayers. Amen.
