Invitation

An Invitation From Rev. Yvonne Delk & Rev. Bernice Powell Jackson

Our Dear Sisters in the Spirit,

Once again we prepare to gather as African American Women in Ministry for a time of renewal and restoration. This year will be special as we also celebrate 50 years of ministry and 40 years of ordained ministry of The Rev. Yvonne Delk, the first African American woman ordained in the UCC.

We have a gifted and dedicated planning committee that is hard at work planning a spirit-filled time for us all. They have chosen the theme "Embracing God's Call: From Isolation to Celebration".

We have three outstanding preachers - the Rev. Dr. Christine Wiley, co-pastor of Covenant Baptist/UCC in Washington, the Rev. Dr. Valerie Bridgeman, founder and Executive Director of WomanPreach and the Rev. Dr. Jennifer Leath, pastor of Campbell AME Church, Media, PA. There will be spirited worship, wisdom circles, panel discussions and a little time for fun and sistership.

We are therefore extending to you our personal invitation to join us and be blessed in the worship, the wisdom circles and in the sister circles. We believe you will leave renewed by the sacred space of Franklinton Center and empowered by the retreat to not only embrace God's call but to celebrate it as you live out your call to ministry,

Your Sisters in Christ,

Yvonne Delk
Bernice Powell Jackson

An Invitation From The Conference Co-Chairs

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

On behalf of the African American Women in Ministry Conference Planning Committee, we extend a special invitation for you to join us and other sisters in ministry both near and far at the African American Women in Ministry UCC Conference 2014. Our theme is Embracing God's Call: From Isolation to Celebration. This year's focus scripture is Luke 1:45, "Blessed is she that believed for there shall be a performance of those things which were told to her from the Lord."

Join us for a spirit-filled time of remembrance and celebration as we honor The Rev. Dr. Yvonne Delk, the first African American woman ordained in the United Church of Christ, for her 40th year of ordination into the Christian Ministry.

Our guest preachers this year are Rev. Dr. Valerie Bridgeman, Rev. Dr. Christine Wiley and Rev. Jennifer Leath. Join us on the sacred grounds of Franklinton Center at Bricks around the "Wisdom Tables" where you will be renewed and empowered to move from "Isolation to Celebration" in your ministries. Join with other sisters to explore where you are in ministry now or where you hope to be. Most of all, be renewed through the unity of community, inspired by preaching and thoughtful discussions, and transformed through prayer, worship and the gift of laughter.

Please accept our personal invitation to reflect on those things that were told to you from the Lord and discover your blessings which God has in store for you. Share your call experience while Embracing God's Call: From Isolation to Celebration in the company of a circle of sisters offering testimonies of insight and support.
