South Central Conference Disaster Ministry - New Orleans July 29, 2008
| Progress — Homes and peoples lives are being rebuilt all along the gulf coast from Beaumont TX to Biloxi MS. Faith based organizations are working in communities along the gulf coast to assist people in their recovery from hurricanes of 2004 and 2005. Much has been accomplished in two and a half years and there is still much more work to be done. The primaryneed all along the gulf coast is to simply get people back in their homes. Too many still wait for assistance and live somewhere else.
Each day dawns and brings new hope for families and homeowners as progress is made in home repairs and rebuilds. Talented volunteers have put in many hours of labor. Volunteers continue to come and work with care and compassion. If you are reading this and are a person with rebuilding skills, please consider coming to New Orleans. Or if you know someone who has those skills, please encourage them to come. It doesn't need to be a large group of people. A few talented individuals are able to accomplish a great deal.
There is one simple important way everyone reading this may help, prayer. It is unknown how many people and how many prayers have been said on behalf of the people of New Orleans. It is not necessary to know the number. What is important is the strength people feel who are here working whether they come for a week or are here as long term workers. Those of us working in New Orleans are very grateful for your prayers. Thank you very much and keep up the good work!
Hope Shall Bloom!
