Tornadoes in Florida

Several counties experience tornadoes overnight that crossed several counties in Florida. The counties involved are Lake, Volusia, Marion and Sumter.

Information is coming in today about the tornadoes that crossed several counties in Florida overnight.  Karen Thompson, minister for disaster response and recovery for the UCC Florida Conference; and Bill Wealand, pastor of the UCC Villages church are checking on damages.  The counties involved are Lake, Volusia, Marion and Sumter.  As information becomes available, please check this web site for updates.

Emergency workers and first responders are assessing damages and providing relief to persons impacted by these tornadoes.  There may be fatalities and there are known injuries – additionally, there may be as many as 500 homes heavily damaged and/or destroyed. There are power outages and a shelter has been opened.

1. Pray for people who live in communities affected by tornadoes.

2.  To help those affected by disasters you may, send gifts payable to your congregation marked for “Emergency USA ” with the request they be sent through your Conference office on to Wider Church Ministries.
