Church Building & Loan Fund
What do we do?
We make loans to new UCC congregations who wish to build or buy their first house of worship.
Our loans are made at below market interest rates. Our fund goes back to 1853 when the first gifts were made to set up a low cost lending program. Loans of up to $2,500,000 can be made. We also partner with other lenders such as local banks and the UCC Cornerstone Fund to finance larger projects.
Through our Partners in Building program, we work with local UCC congregations and their conferences toward the goal of financial self sufficiency that will qualify our partners for their first loan.
The partners will have two events in 2011: California in the spring and Hawaii in the fall. The purpose of these events is to introduce leaders and ministries of the UCC to participants. These feature workshops covering various aspects of parish life, creative worship services, and an evening of fun and entertainment.
We support the UCC Fellowship of Architects, a national group of professionals who are UCC members. This fellowship holds annual continuing education events and many members have assisted local congregations as they began thinking about their building projects.
We answer questions about building and loan related issues, provide helpful resources, and meet with local congregations interested in entering our program.
