Priscilla Bizer, Capital Fundraising Executive

Priscilla S. Bizer comes to the position of Capital Fundraising Executive with experience as a development officer for a UCC health and human services agency and two United Church of Christ seminaries.  While at the two seminaries, she was involved with capital campaigns.  In the first instance, she was responsible for special alumni, church support, and special events.  In the second instance, as Vice President for Development, she oversaw the campaign organization, staffing, and solicitation of gifts and pledges.

Prior to moving into development, Priscilla served as pastor of First Congregational UCC in North Ridgeville, Ohio and, at the beginning of her ministry, as an associate minister of Plymouth Church of Shaker Heights, Ohio.

She earned a Master of Divinity degree from Andover Newton Theological School in Newton Centre, MA and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Eden Seminary in St. Louis, MO.

On behalf of the United Church of Christ, through the Church Building & Loan Fund of Local Church Ministries, Priscilla works with United Church of Christ congregations in Conferences located west of the Mississippi River and with the churches of the Illinois South Conference and the Wisconsin Conference of the UCC.

When churches undertake a Feasibility Study, they are “testing the waters” to learn what members are thinking about the proposed project and how it will strengthen the church’s ministry and outreach.

When churches engage in a Capital Campaign, they are moving forward in faith and hope as they make generous financial commitments to the future life, work and well-being of their congregations.  New construction, expansion, renovation, endowment and/or program support all serve to enhance the mission of that local congregation and the wider Church.

Susan Mitchell, Capital Fundraising Executive

Mitchell brings with her a wealth of experience to the position of Capital Fundraising Executive as the former Chair of Youth Development for the Georgia DeKalb County Board of the United Way. Through her experience as the Founding Co-Pastor of Sankofa, UCC in Atlanta, GA, Susan brings with her both expertise and a heart for developing capital campaigns for the local church. She currently is the General Co-Chair of the Southeast Conference Capital Campaign Committee and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Susan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Kansas and her Masters of Divinity from the Interdenominational Theological Center. She is as an ordained minister with full standing in the Southeast Conference of the United Church of Christ.

Through the Church Building & Loan Fund of Local Church Ministries, Susan works with United Church of Christ congregations in Conferences located east of the Mississippi River.

When churches have a vision for ministry development to better serve the congregation and the greater community they often wonder, how we will fund our vision and goals?

Completing a feasibility study will allow the church to gain a better understanding of how the members feel about and understand the proposed project and plan. A feasibility study will help to identify the next appropriate steps for the church on their way to achieving their goals.

Engaging in a capital campaign opens the opportunity for church members to participate in implementing their strategic plan and make a financial commitment towards achieving their goals. A capital campaign raises financial resources and may also include increased member participation, development of new leaders and an increase in annual giving.

Whether it is building your first new construction, renovating the existing structure, developing an endowment or new ministries and programs, the UCC Church Building & Loan Fund Capital Campaign Services can assist you with achieving your goals.
