Here is a Pre-Synod Event that we encourage and urge you to make known to your constituents, especially since those who are going to attend Synod may welcome this Pre-Synod Event. We know people are making their flight arrangements, therefore we hope many will add this one day to their itinerary. Since 2010, we have coordinated an annual national gathering sponsored by the UCC Disabilities Ministries and the UCC Mental Illness Network, called “Widening the Welcome: Inclusion for All.”
 
This year, on Thursday, June 27, we will have a one day event in Long Beach, our fourth annual gathering.  One of our keynote speakers, the Rev. Susan Gregg-Schroeder, will speak about “Mental Illness as a Spiritual Journey,” and during these days when mental illness has grabbed some headlines, we will want to put some of our questions into the faith context.   Along with this focus, we will also have a strong presence lifting up our denomination’s support of local congregations becoming Accessible to All (A2A.)
