AntiRacism/Diversity – Required Training - Sept 30

All employees must register for one session (9/28, 9/29 or 9/30).

This workshop is designed to help participants create the spaces to be self-reflective about our cultural shaping as individuals and institutions, understand the power dynamics in society that impact us, develop the skills to interrupt old patterns and inequitable practices that limit access and exclude some people from our institutions, build trust and clear communication and begin to understand how to make decisions based on multiple perspectives where all people can be heard and represented. The workshop seeks to respond to these questions:

• How does the white dominant culture of the United States operate implicitly and explicitly in ways that racialize individuals and institutions?

• How does the United Church of Christ as an institution along with its staff implicitly support US white dominant culture regardless of organizational commitments and actions to be an inclusive community?

• How might the framework of critical cultural competency equip the United Church of Christ staff to interrupt systemic forms of oppression broadly and racism in particular?
