Community Shredding Days
Better Business Bureau's "Secure Your ID Day"
April 18, 2009
Wondering what to do with those confidential papers that are scheduled for destruction? Check local websites for information about community shredding days in your area. Most areas have at least one free shredding day per year. This is one way for conferences, associations, local churches, and individuals to securely destroy confidential information.
PLEASE NOTE: BE SURE YOU HAVE CONSULTED YOUR RECORDS RETENTION SCHEDULE AND/OR YOUR LEGAL COUNCIL AND/OR YOUR FINANCIAL ADVISOR TO BE CERTAIN THE RECORDS CAN BE LEGALLY DESTROYED. This especially applies to conferences, associations and local churches.
Be sure to find out more information about your area's free shredding day. Most events have a limit of 2-3 boxes/bags per person. Some events require proof of residency and/or papers to be removed from binders.
Where do I find information about events in my neighborhood?
Check your local area's:
- Better Business Bureau
- Television and/or Radio stations
- Shredding companies
