Take Action

During this year's Synod, the Collegium of Officers of the United Church of Christ published a Pastoral Letter on the War in Iraq, calling for the end of death and violence and the beginning of lasting peace through diplomacy in the Middle East.

Through the unified leadership of its National Officers, Conference Ministers and Seminary Presidents, the United Church of Christ is seeking to build an unprecedented faith-based movement "to join protest to prayer" in ending the war in Iraq.

Home: Justice: $100,000 for Peace

During this season of peacemaking, the UCC is asking for a massive wave of 100,000 in-district visits, letters and calls to the local offices of our Senators and Representatives. Here's what we're asking you to do:

  1. Fill out the web form below. Tell us when and where you'll be making an in-district visit to an office of a Senator and/or Representative. We'll calendar the date, so that everyone across the UCC can know about your meeting and offer prayers of peace and solidarity on that day.
  2. If you don't know where your Congresspersons' in-district offices are located, click here for a directory.
  3. Download and print a copy of the UCC's Pastoral Letter on the Iraq War [PDF] and take it with you when you visit your local Congressional office(s).
  4. Download the 100,000 for Peace Advocacy Kit [PDF]. This contains tips and talking points that will help you frame the conversation when you visit the office of your Senator or Representative.
