During this year's Synod, the Collegium of Officers of the United Church of Christ published a Pastoral Letter on the War in Iraq, calling for the end of death and violence and the beginning of lasting peace through diplomacy in the Middle East.

Through the unified leadership of its National Officers, Conference Ministers and Seminary Presidents, the United Church of Christ is seeking to build an unprecedented faith-based movement "to join protest to prayer" in ending the war in Iraq.

 
Home: Justice: 100,000 for Peace
 

This October, the UCC traveled to Washington, DC to call on the US government to end the war in Iraq. We delivered the names of almost 64,000 people for peace, those who stand in solidarity with the UCC's Pastoral Letter on the Iraq War. You can read about our trip here.

We are still collecting signatures, so please check out some of the ways you can help gather support:

Spread the word to your community with our downloadable action kit. It includes a list of things you can do in your community to gather support in opposing the Iraq War, and free materials which you can provide to your friends, neighbors and family members.

Circulate this petition among your friends, family and neighbors. Once completed, you can send the petition to the UCC, where we will add the names to the growing list of supporters for the UCC's Iraq Petition.
Give "100,000 for Peace" bookmarks to your friends or stick them in your favorite books at the local library or bookstore.
Take a walk through your community and leave these "100,000 for Peace" doorhangers hanging on your neighbor's doors. You can also show your support by hanging them on your door at work.
Download and print these "100,000 for Peace" stickers on a sheet of Avery shipping labels (#5963) and then share them with your friends, family and neighbors. Help spread the word by putting stickers on public bulletin boards at your local church, school or community center.
Post "100,000 for Peace" banner ads on your personal Web pages. You can copy the code and paste them into your personal Web site, blog, MySpace or Facebook profiles.
Buy a "100,000 for Peace" shirt through our Web site and wear it with pride.
